Confession: Gospel Geek
So I sat way in the back of the chapel (just in front of the stage) last week because we didn’t reach our 3rd row in time. I took a look around and realized that this is where all the cool people sit. It was then that I figured out that I wasn’t as cool as I thought…that I might even be a gospel geek.
My name is Bianca and I’m a Gospel Geek.
If you can answer yes to 15 or more of these you might be one too.
- Do you sit in the front of the chapel?
- Do you bring your scriptures every week?
- Do you attend every meeting, including firesides?
- Do you watch all of conference, even the Saturday session?
- Do you have more Sunday clothes than regular clothes?
- Are you ten minutes early to everything?
- Do you still have your seminary scriptures?
- Are you the first to find the scripture in class, or do you have it memorized?
- Do you bear your testimony every month?
- Do you fast every fast Sunday, and give a sizable offering?
- Do you secretly wonder why some people aren’t as excited as you are about Sundays?
- Is you heart broken when your baby cries in the middle of a lesson because you sincerely wanted to hear it?
- Do you always have your temple recommend with you, and carry it proudly, tucked away in the same pocket as your drivers license
- Are you are a die hard BYU fan?
- Did you meet your spouse at BYU?
I am not a Gospel Geek. What a loser I am :(. Why are you even my friend?!?
Because you inspire me to be better in every aspect of my life. You applaud the great things I do and help me to make good choices, and yet still love me when I don’t. Because a person can be a gospel geek and know nothing of Charity, they could do everything on that list and still fall short of truly living the gospel if they do not love one another. You have shown kindness and patience and love to some of the meanest people I’ve ever known and if you were in my ward, I would sit with you no matter where you sat in the chapel.
Hugs,
