Confession Wednesday: Designer by DI

“Did you get that from DI?” she said to a young mom in the foyer of a ward building, one Sunday during church. Everyone became very quiet, waiting her response…her face turned red for a moment and then she brightly replied, “Like that’s a bad thing! I only paid a few dollars for this designer dress.” To that the lady replied, “I know I just donated it last week.”  -Continental Ranch Ward, 2000 True Story.
My name is Bianca and I shop at Deseret Industries.
I’m not above a good deal. Most of my maternity clothes are from DI. I buy a lot of party theme and activity supplies (like baskets or pretty serving dishes and vases)  from there and random fabric scraps for everyday projects. I think my favorite area to shop is the book section. Sometimes you can find old Friend Magazines, church books, scriptures on tape (great for children to use on their own) and or CD and even the Hymns on tape/CD and Hymn books for Family Home Evening. Of course, don’t think that I only take from DI. I donate my fair share too. When I lived in Tucson, my friend and I would go at least once a month with a box or two. It was a 45 minute drive we would have a nice long chat and then do lunch. Now our DI is 2 hours away and I save up all our clothes and household items and when we make our trip to town I put them in the car to take to DI. That way my home stays decluttered and I still have a little room for something nice from DI.

  • I LOVE the DI. I think I might stop by there later today… 🙂 Also, thanks for the cute VT idea. I saw it at aiming to be a well rounded woman.

  • Kathy, you are so sweet. I hope you found something really fun at DI! I can’t seem to get that song out of my head. I’m so glad you enjoyed the VT handout. Sometimes it is hard to think of new ideas so I was especially glad to see your blog and your VT idea. I also enjoyed Penny’s blog “Aiming to be a Well Rounded Woman” . Thank you so much for commenting. It is so nice to know that there are people who actually read my blog!
    Hugs,
