Being Prepared for Marriage
I was getting my degree from BYU and visiting my family for the summer, when I ran into a good friend at a church dance. She looked great as always and we began talking. In the two years that I was attending BYU, she had received certification from a trade school, began working and making decent money, bought a car and was about to purchase her first home. (All while she was single) Wow, I had no skills, had finally resorted to getting a loan because the job I had wasn’t enough to make ends meet and by the time I graduated, I would already be in debt with student loans. After college, I applied for jobs everywhere, and everyone seemed to be looking for more experience. Remembering my friend from the dance, I went to a trade school. Before I even received my certification, I had a job and I was making more than I was working in my chosen field. It was easier to find a job and I only went to school for 8 months to become certified. Even now, as a stay at home mom, I use my trade to earn extra money from home when I can. I think if I could do it over again, I would have gone to trade school first, earned my way through BYU (Instead of getting a loan) and provided for my future family the best possible start.
