Confession: What’s Good For You

“Sometimes you have to learn to love what’s good for you.” Charlie to Bella”
Stephenie Meyer (New Moon)
Of course she does! I mean “hello”, when given a choice between a very hot, poor, spiritual, shape shifter and a slightly less hot, wealthy, blood thirsty, vampire you really have to weigh your future carefully, before jumping off that cliff. But no matter, it’s fiction and I myself am undecided. I always have been team Edward from the book. Then I saw the movie…and well can you blame me? Were we watching the same movies? Edward from the book is different from Edward in the movie and Jacob…well he wasn’t described quite that muscular in the book… Decisions, decisions. Whatever team I’m on at the moment, I find myself making some of the same kind of difficult decisions in my own life. Potato chips or celery, alright to be fair, it is more like a few potato chips or the whole bag. My name is Bianca and sometimes I have to learn to love what’s good for me. I would rather eat white rice than brown, read than exercise, yell than patiently explain, craft than clean, play than study.  I can only imagine a life where I only loved what was good for me.  How peaceful my life would be if I preferred the Tabernacle Choir to any other kind of music, if church was my only interest, and if cooking and cleaning were my favorite activities. Doesn’t that just sound perfect to you? I can see myself, cooking an excellent meal for my family, while mentally preparing for my next meeting, with the enchanting sounds of the Tabernacle Choir playing softly in the background. All this with a big smile on my face and a content heart. No wishing I could get five minutes to go onto Facebook (alright in all fairness, an hour or two), no dreading the dishes or the meeting….just being content loving what is good for me…sigh….always something to work on.
