For this project, I used one of my favorite techniques, fabric transfers onto stiff felt. It makes the project durable and able to withstand little hands. Just follow the link, download the image, flip the image horizontally in a photo editing program, print onto fabric transfers and follow the instructions to apply it to stiff felt (you can find it at Wal-mart or your local craft store.)

For stories from the friend magazine I like to make a black and white copy for just the text then I cut out and laminate the images and put them on popsicle sticks or add magnets to the back and use with a cookie sheet when I tell the story. It is fun to have one of your children help tell the story by holding up the pictures for all the family to see while a reader reads the story.
