Visiting Teaching (January 2011)

Mini Fruit Basket

One day at BYU, I went to visit a friend in the dorm across the hall. Her roommate was at the table preparing little baskets of RUNTS candy by Wonka for the people she visit taught. I think she used candy cups, and pipe cleaners. When I read this months lesson I remembered that day, and thought about how well the little treat baskets expressed the purposes of  Relief Society. I thought of the Relief Society members in 1842, taking baskets of food to their sisters.

For this basket, I used a freebie pattern from Waltzing Mouse Stamps (Click Here) and I printed it “Multiple Pages Per Sheet” to make it even smaller. (For Instructions on how to do that with a PDF file click here.) I printed it on the back of scrapbook paper, cut to letter size. Then, I printed out some Relief Society Logos Click Here and the Fruits of Relief Society (Click Here), cut out a border for each and put it all together with plastic wrap and some ribbon.

I am excited to try some of the crafts on your blog. I especially like the Sewing Jar and am thinking about using it for February’s VT message on the Restoration.
