VT With Me, August, More Holiness Give Me

More Holiness Give Me VT Gift

The Visiting Teaching Message for August is titled, “A Society of Holy Women.” When I read this message, I immediately thought of one of my favorite songs, “More Holiness Give Me #131”, because who doesn’t need some of that?! So anyway here is what I came up with.

Printout Cut and Scored, Milk Duds, Snack Bag, Bag Topper With Ribbon and Quotes With Paper Fastener

1. Click here to printout the cover. If you don’t have a color printer you could print it out on colored paper and pick a matching candy to go inside. Click Here for black and white.
2. Cut along the pink lines and score along the dotted lines. (They are light so that they won’t show when it is finished.)
3. Cut out the circle in the middle of the cover. Punch a hole under the title, on the dot mark.
4. Hole punch the bag topper, thread some ribbon through the holes and tie a bow.
5. Print out quotes (click here), cut them out and hole punch them on the dot mark.(Click Here for quotes in Black and white)
6. Thread a paper fastener through all the quotes smallest to largest and then through the hole under the title.
7. Fill a snack size baggie half full of Milk Duds or your favorite round candy, and fold the baggie in half, pushing the candy to one side.
8. Assemble Cover as shown wrapped around the bag  and staple.

Assemble and Add Topper with Ribbon

 9. Adhere the topper to the cover top to hide the staples and give it a clean look.
10. And you are done.
Happy Visiting Teaching!!

  • Karen,
What a sweet thing to say! It warms my heart to know that I can help. I love having a creative outlet and the idea that I can give others an opportunity to be creative for a good and worthy cause makes it all the more enjoyable. May our Heavenly Father bless you for your service to your sisters. Have a wonderful day and come back to see me now and then.
    Hugs,

  • Your website is new to me and I absolutely love the name, love the style, love the information and your inspiration and love you! Thank you for so much for your creativity and generosity! You’re GREAT!

  • This is the cutest thing! I love your take on the phrase “holiness”-literally-hahaha! Please keep the creative spirit coming! Thanks so much-Ü

  • Merry,
Thank you so much for the laugh! I’m so glad you noticed the holiness thing. When I showed it to my husband, He’s like “Yea that’s nice, dear.” I said, “Holy, get it?” (making a point to show him how it worked) and he said, “Yes, I noticed the hole.” He was more anoyed than amused. Men! (Of course I love how masculine he is even it means he doesn’t get me sometimes.) And it makes comments like yours even more fun. Thank you!
    Hugs,

  • Hi Debbie,
I’m so glad you stopped by! Thank you so much for your kind words. I really enjoy posting my ideas. It is nice to know, as a stay at home mom, that I can make some sort of difference in the world outside of these walls. I hope you come back soon.

  • Hi Becca,
Thanks so much for the comment. I am so glad you liked this months handout. I really enjoy doing things like this and being able to share with others is such a bonus. It is like we are all at a very big craft day in the the cultural hall, sharing ideas and making friends. Thanks for stopping by and come back next month.

  • Hi Vanessa,
I’m so proud of you for doing your visiting teaching so early in the month.
I think about it all month long, but somehow I don’t end up going until the end of the month.
So props to you for getting out there early and getting it done!
    Hugs,

  • Thanks for sharing your idea. I’m the VT coordinator in our ward, the third Sunday of each month I give a brief message about VT, this month I’ll share your message.

You are a blessing to us all.

    Pauline

  • Hi Pauline,
I’m so glad that I could help. The third Sunday is a perfect time to remind and re-motivate sisters to get out there and visit. Even I usually don’t get to it until after the 3rd week myself. I’m glad you are the coordinator.
    Hugs,

  • This is great! I love it!

Just a couple of changes I made:

    1. I took the “hole-i-ness” theme one step farther and used LifeSaver Mint candies for the candy.

    2. I have some small 3″ x 4″ storage bags and used those instead of a snack bag so I didn’t have to fold it in half — you still need to fold a little length-wise, but not nearly as much. (You can get these bags in the jewelry section of the craft area — I’ve seen at least 3 different sizes — I use them for tons of differnet things.)

    3. I couldn’t get the flap to lay right when I stapled the bag to it (didn’t do it right or maybe because of the different size bag?), so I used double-stick tape to tape the bag to the inside back area — this could also eliminate the need for the brown “topper” piece to cover the staples, unless you just want your to top flap to be thicker.
    4. I also used double-stick tape (non-permanent) to keep the flap closed.
    5. I had some brown paper fasteners that I used instead of the gold ones.

    Thanks for your wonderful idea!

  • Hi Terry,
I’m glad you were able to put your own personal touch to this handout. I’m sure your sisters appreciate the extra effort and love you have shown for them.
    Love,

  • Dear Lisa H,
