The Stake President’s Office

Five things you must do immediately after your husband has been called into the Stake President’s office:
1. Run! Don’t walk to your room and get all the crying out now and try to distinguish between the feelings of honnor and fear. And focus on the pride you feel for your husband and try to remember that behind every good man is a good woman. You know you work hard at keeping the Spirit in your home and this has helped him get where he is spiritually. Consider it a compliment.
2. Have hope knowing that there are more callings than Bishop.
3. Pray – pray for you and pray for him and pray that you both will be strong enough to carry the load whatever it is.
4. Have Faith in the knowledge that Heavenly Father has a hand in this, that your husband can make a difference for good in the community and in the stake, that you will be fine without him every once in a while, and that the blessings will come for your sacrifice.
5. Find something nice to wear that day, spend a little extra time on yourself and enjoy the blessings that will come to you through his service.
See, this would have been good to know before my DH told me about the meeting. I had so many mixed emotions about his call to a counselor in the Stake YM’s. I worried about the Scouting Program in our own ward, I worried about the YM he was over now, “What would they do without him?” What about my own son? He was five months away from having his father as his YM’s advisor and only a year away from getting his Eagle. But at the same time, I was so excited about the work he could do stake wide and the wonderful example he is, his love for the scouting program and his talent for working with the YM. I do not doubt that this call is where he should be right now but it would have been good to know what to do before I actually got to the Stake President’s office. It was difficult to explain the facial expressions and the tears. So re-read the steps just in case you ever have to face…The Stake President’s Office.
