Drive Through Gifts

06

Ok so it has taken me a lot longer to get in the Christmas spirit this year. In fact…It is the middle of December and I just barely buckled down and decided to get started. As far as gifts go and in an effort to tackle it one step at a time I thought I would begin with the Drive Through Gifts. These are the miscellaneous gifts. The ones you give to your children’s primary teacher, the bus driver, your neighbors down the road, the families you visit teach and the random friends who bring you a plate of cookies that between you and me you completely forgot to put on your list. (Of course Molly doesn’t forget anyone) I just always seem to underestimate the amount of friends I really have. It is just always good to have enough of something so that not one of your acquaintances feel left out. Here are some ideas I have used or others have used that I really liked. In random order.
1. Sparkling Cider with a pretty bow and Christmas Card
2. Chips and Salsa
3.  A bottle of Jam
4. Chocolates (I love to them myself)
5. A plate of Cookies
6. Cheese ball platter (Yummy)
7. A plate of treats of any kind
8. Layered Jars, flavored oils or vinigars  (Click Here for Recipes)
9. A beautiful Christmas tree ornament
10. Ice Cream with a Snowman Poem (I liked this one but the Ten Cow wives might frown upon it. Use with care.)

“Snowman Poop”
Santa checked his list
He  even checked it twice…
But he found out that you
Haven’t been very nice!
Coal is too expensive
So, Here’s the Scoop
All you get for Christmas is some
“Snowman Poop”

11. A jar of homemade hot fudge
12. Homemade hot-cocoa mix in pretty mugs
13. A crochet towel topper, towel and thought:

The Christmas Towel
At first glance, it is easy to look at a towel as a most ordinary object. Have you ever stopped to think that for thousands of years the towel has been used for many wonderful purposes.
For example, the mother who wipes the tears of a child to soothe an emotional or physical hurt; the physician who binds the wounds of a bleeding patient; or the woman in her home wiping her hands as she moves from task to task.
Perhaps the most significant use of the towel happened nearly two thousand years ago when our Savior, only hours before he hung on the cross, took an ordinary towel in His loving hands and dried the feet of His disciples. This simple, loving act personifies the selflessness and loving service we seek to give during our lives. It illustrates that an ordinary thing like a towel, in the right hands, and with a giving heart, can lighten another’s load. As with every action performed by the Savior on this earth, His act of service reminds us that simple day-to-day kindnesses are the Savior’s way to bless and comfort.
This towel is given with love, and with the hope you will do works of goodness with it as the Savior did so many years ago.

14. A home sewn or decorated pillowcase with this thought attached:

Christmas Pillowcase Poem
December the first starts a magical time,
With all sorts of colors, ribbons, and rhyme…
Sugar plum fairies will dance in your head….
If you put this special pillowcase on your bed.
The reason its special, as you will soon see
Is that it’s been dusted with Christmas Fancy!
Visions of candy canes, Santa and treasures
Will fill each dream with sweetness and pleasures.
When the time comes for it to be washed
Do it quickly so no magic is lost.

My sister in-law sent my family pillow cases this year, super cute and the children loved them. Thanks JG!
