Molly Forgives in Advance
I woke up this morning and realized that I was in a potentially difficult situation with a friend of mine. If past behavior had any bearing on the future, this coming weekend could be a little frustrating. I explained the situation to my husband and he nodded his head as I continued. He has known this friend of mine since he and I began dating. As I continued my what ifs…he looked at me lovingly and said “You’ll just have to forgive her in advance.” “Is that like a credit card without the monthly payments?” I replied. “She is like a sister, to you and deserves a little credit,” was his response to this. I hate it when he is right – and in 20 words or less to boot! But it seems a little harder than it should be. So I got to thinking of all the many things she does to bless my life. She is extremely generous, and kind and we have been friends for over 20 years, we have shared so many ups and downs….on and on…And then it became easier. Instead of a credit card it became more like a debit card, the money is already in the bank in case of withdrawal. And I am free to like my dear friend just the way she is, without conditions, strings attached, appologies or monthly payments.
