The Tempting Store Wide Sale…

8:30 AM Kohl’s Sale – A
1. A good sale is a wonderful time to purchase those items you’ve been wanting or needing for sometime but can’t justify unless they are on sale. Having a wish list or a file of these items keeps them fresh in memory for just such an occasion. And take inventory of what you have so you know what you need. (This is a good time to take de-clutter the items in your home that you no longer need and take them to DI)  Example: My daughter has a pair of brown pants but doesn’t have much to go with them. So I found a cute shirt with leggings on sale that would also match the pants. It improves her wardrobe by two outfits and I got it for 60% off regular price.

2. Sometimes in a store wide sale, prices are marked up and then put on sale. So take an item that is regular $20.00, the retailer marks it up to $35.00 and then sells it for 50% off. You think you are getting a steal but really you only saved $2.50 off of regular price. Tricky! So create and use a personalized price book. This will help you make educated choices at sales like these, second hand stores and wholesale stores.

3. Sales like these are nice when you have time to make really good decisions. We were lucky, our husbands had our children and we had a good portion of the morning to make logical choices that would most benifit our children and our budget.

4. We didn’t know about the sale until we walked in but it would have been great if I had given myself an estimated spending allowance ahead of time, taking into consideration what I needed more at the moment. I didn’t end up buying anything that I didn’t need right now, but it was hard to pass up the items that I thought I might need in the future.

In the end, the Kohl’s sale was a success. I bought things I needed at a good price and I didn’t spend all of my money in one place.
