Baking Bread is Not A Commandment
The thing I love about Molly is that she is kind, and forgiving and fun to be around not that she bakes bread. Although, her bread is amazing. I don’t think a loaf of hot whole wheat bread will get anyone into the Celestial Kingdom. But taking a hot loaf of bread to the person you are having a difficult time liking down the road, might get you one step closer. In our day to day pursuit of excellence it is easy to get caught up in the many other things we feel we are suppose to be doing, like keeping the house clean, paying bills, fixing great meals, excelling at our callings that when our sweet little children track mud over our freshly mopped floors, or we are off budget because we spent a little extra on someone who needed it, or when someone we serve with isn’t pulling their share of the load…the list goes on…it can really rain on our parade of perfection. But it is showing kindness during those times that really make us closer to perfect and closer to catching up to Molly. So maybe I can settle for hot dogs tonight and spend the time I would have spent making an amazing dinner reading a story to my kids, maybe I will go play outside in the mud with my darlings instead of getting mad about the mud inside the house, maybe I will give more in my fast offering this month, and maybe I will see if there is anything I can do for the people I serve with to lighten their load.
