Confession – Relief
So I was released from Cub Master and I can’t believe I’m going to say this on the Internet but I have to confess….not so sad about it. Cub Scouts is amazing. The whole scouting program is absolutely, without a doubt in my mind, completely inspired. The confidence a boy can gain by learning to do things all on his own, by perfecting manly skills like survival, hiking, woodcraft, life skills, leadership….is outstanding. It isn’t like it wasn’t fun. It was over the top fun! But just like any leadership calling it saps you of all your resources (from your pocket book to your sleep to your family time) and when you are done, you are done. I think the primary president must have seen the glazed over look in my eyes and rescued me before I began resenting it. I believe the calling was completely inspired because I had the time of my life and I think the release was just as inspired because I didn’t have anything left to give. So I feel weird for not being sad but at the same time, I will always have a special place in my heart for Cub Scouting………..See Ya!
