What’s it Like? Teaching My Parents Something they Don’t Know
For a Wednesday night activity, we were instructed to teach our parents about something we have been studying and are passionate about.
Gaby Says:
This week I taught my family about herbalism and how to make poultices. It was such an amazing experience – being able to teach and talk about something I love and enjoy doing. Especially because not only do I love herbalism but I also really enjoy teaching in general.
First, I taught them what a poultice is.
Next, I taught them how to make and use one.
And then, I taught them what herbs you can find growing wild in our area, to use for a poultice.
Last but not least, I gave them a quiz – having them repeat back to me what herbs can be used for what in a poultice. They did so well on the quiz and I felt so loved because they listened and support me in my interests.
Jericho Says:
This week, I taught my family different Electronic Dance Music (EDM) genres. It was super cool. After I had them listen to different songs from each genre, I gave them a quiz. I asked them to guess which genre a song was from a short clip. My sister did the best. She got most of them right. It was harder for my parents. Maybe because electronic music was only in its beginnings when they were in high school, and they don’t listen to it a lot.
