Got Inspiration?
Have you ever noticed that Molly seems to have and answer for everything. Every once in a while she might just tilt her head and think but it doesn’t last long. Three seconds later she has the answer to all the world’s problems and how to do it inexpensively and in a short period of time. Creativity comes second nature, and it seems like she is good at EVERYTHING or knows something about Everything. And when I’m around her I’m one of two things usually, annoyed or amazed. So I asked her (the many Molly’s I know) how she does it. And this is what she said.
1. Ask questions – Don’t you just love it when your child asks the perfect question, (usually scientific) that you drop everything to find the answer? I think Heavenly Father feels the same way. All the answers Molly has in that big brain of hers began with a question she had to know the answer to and probably spent time praying about.
2. Never stop learning – study what you are interested in, research your calling online and use the wisdom of other sisters around the world to find an easier, better way of doing things. Then, it is like puzzle pieces that come together when you need the inspiration.
3. Listen – Spend a few minutes in quiet solitude. Clear your mind and wait for the inspiration to come. Focus on a point on the wall and give Heavenly Father a moment to speak to you.
4. Exercise – Exercise helps energize the mind. Even if it isn’t rigorous, some of the best ideas seem to come on the treadmill.
5. Have a place to write down inspiration, ideas, thoughts that will help with your calling or situation that is easy to access, attach a pen so you can just write it down quickly and have it ready when you need it.
6. Journal Regularly – Have you ever re-read a journal entry and gotten an answer you need at the moment? It’s funny how we can speak to our future selves in our journal.
7. Get close to nature – there is something about the great outdoors that is inspiring and the birds, wind and trees seem to speak without saying a word.
