Savings
So I had a wonderful visit with one of my friends today. And I found out that she is able to put away $600.00 dollars from her husband’s income. I think that is outstanding no matter what your husband makes. From what I gathered she is able to do this in five simple ways.
1. She doesn’t spend money on frivoulus things. She doesn’t want the newest this or the best that as much as she wants to stay on budget. It is simply more important to her.
2. She hits the sales. Paying attention to the sales ads may take time but the payoffs can be substantial.
3. She makes good use of her freezer and her canning abilities to use up all of the food she buys on sale and rotates her food storage by baking bread.
4. She meal plans. She has a budget of 300 dollars a month for a family of 5. This is outstanding and she is able to manage this by planning her meals carefully and cooking her own food. Meal planning is also a good way to prevent wasting the food you buy.
5. She prevents debt by saving for big purchases and buying them with cash instead of buying them now and paying for them later with interest.
The saying “A penny saved is a penny earned”, goes a long way for this family. The techniques that she uses aren’t rocket science but they are a lot easier said than done. It takes meticulous planning and self control. Now if I could just buy some of THAT right?!
