She Knows State Standards
If you volunteer enough in your child’s classroom you will have a general idea of what your child needs to know especially if your child’s teacher is kind enough to point out each standard as you are working on it. If not you are left to what ever they come home with in the way of homework and graded papers, and only if you can avoid the extreme temptation to throw everything away to avoid clutter. An easier way is to look up the standards online. Here is the link. Find your state here. Now I get that it may seem a little overwhelming at first but you know what areas your child is weak in and can compensate where needed. If they are weak in math then look up just the math standards. Then, find activities online that your child can work on over the summer that will increase their knowledge in that area. A place I go to for worksheets and educational activities is Scholastic. There are many others but I’ve enjoyed so many of the Scholastic teacher books and they have a good collection of them online for free.
