Self Sufficiency at It’s Best

No one should be without a garbage disposal. It is just cruel. After about three days, my inner handy man kicked in and I was determined to fix mine. I could have ordered a new one, had it shipped to me and then tried to find someone I didn’t know to install it for me. But that was for wimps. I was heck bent on doing this myself. So I turned to my source for all knowledge, the You Tube. And I found video after video. After watching a few of them, I felt confident that I could fix it myself. All I had to do was find the Allen wrenches. Luckily for me, the video showed a picture of one or I might not have known what an Allen Wrench was. I searched the house over, loooked through all my husband’s tools to find it and couldn’t. Finally, when my husband made his next video call I asked him. He looked concerned when I told him that I was going to fix the garbage disposal all by myself. Making the moment I did so much more special. So, I gathered all my tools, unplugged the unit and went to work. It was a liberating moment for me when it was all fixed and working again. I felt like the strong, independent, undaunted woman I was back in college. It is a good reminder, that sometimes in our happily ever after it is good to get a little uncomfortable just so you can remember who you are, the strength inside of you, and then rise above it and rescue yourself. There’s nothing like it.
